Things to Do
Where to Watch the Sunset in Quogue
Quogue's geography — ocean to the south, Shinnecock Bay to the north — means spectacular sunset views from multiple vantage points. Here are the best spots.
Dockers Waterside, Dune Road
The classic. Grab an Aperol Spritz at the waterside bar and watch the sun drop behind the bay. The light reflecting off the water is extraordinary. Live music on weekend evenings makes this the ultimate Hamptons sunset experience.
Quogue Village Beach, Dune Road
Walk east along the beach in the evening — in late summer, the sun sets at an angle that lights up the dunes in deep gold. Fewer people than any other Hamptons beach at sunset.
Fairy Dell Boardwalk, Wildlife Refuge
The three terminal platforms overlooking Quantuck Creek catch beautiful reflected sunset light. The wetland landscape turns amber and the bird activity increases as day fades.
Jessup Avenue Village Center
On clear evenings, the western sky over the village center glows. Grab a coffee from Schmidt's and sit on the bench outside — it's the most village-life moment you'll have.
Old Main Road
Walking or biking along Old Main Road in the evening golden hour, with the light filtering through the oak canopy onto classic Hamptons shingle homes, is quintessential Quogue.
