Quogue Beach Access: Permits, Parking, and Insider Tips

Quogue Village Beach on Dune Road is one of the most beautiful and uncrowded beaches in the Hamptons, and getting onto it takes a little planning. Here is what you actually need to know.

Where It Is

The village beach is at 170–172 Dune Road, Quogue, NY 11959, on the ocean side of the barrier island. It is a short drive from the village centre across the Dune Road bridge.

Lifeguards and Season

Lifeguards are on duty from Memorial Day weekend, initially weekends only through 23 June, then daily from 27 June through Labor Day. Staffed hours are 10:00am to 6:00pm. Outside those dates and hours the beach is open but unguarded, which is worth knowing if you are bringing children in early June or late September.

Beach Permits

A village beach permit is required. The 2026 Beach Permit Application is available through the Village of Quogue's Forms & Permits page, and if you are paying by credit card you must apply online rather than in person.

One change for 2026 worth flagging: beach lockers are no longer available. If you previously relied on a locker for chairs and umbrellas, you will need to carry them in and out each visit.

Parking

Parking along Dune Road is limited and regulated, and the beach lot fills early on summer weekends. Weekday visits are considerably easier. Check current parking rules with Village Hall before you rely on street parking.

Beach Clubs

For those who want more than sand, the Quogue Beach Club and the Surf Club of Quogue offer private beach access with cabanas, dining and a summer social calendar.

Insider Tips

• Early morning or late afternoon in June and September often means stretches of sand nearly to yourself.
• Bring your own umbrella and chairs. There are no rentals at the village beach, and as of 2026 no lockers either.
• The water here runs slightly calmer than neighbouring ocean beaches, which suits families with young children.
• Low tide reveals sandbars worth walking out to.
