The Village of Quogue has opened applications for 2026 beach permits, which allow residents and their guests access to the village's guarded ocean beach and parking areas on Dune Road throughout the summer season.
Applications are available at Quogue Village Hall, located at 5 Village Lane, and online through the village's official website. Permit applications for the 2026 season opened May 1 and can be submitted through May 31 for guaranteed processing before the Memorial Day weekend opening.
Applicants must provide proof of residency (a current utility bill or tax notice is sufficient), along with a completed application form and the applicable fee. Renters with a lease running through Labor Day weekend are eligible for seasonal permits.
Resident vehicle permit: Provides access to village beach parking and facilities for registered vehicles owned by village residents.
Guest permits: Available to residents in limited quantities. Guest permits allow visitors accompanying residents to access the beach and parking areas. Quantities per household may be limited — check the Village Hall notice for the 2026 allocation.
Temporary permits: Available for short-term rentals and visitors for weekly or weekend use at the Village Hall counter.
The official guarded season runs from Memorial Day weekend (Saturday, May 23) through Labor Day (Monday, September 1), 2026. Lifeguards are on duty daily from 10:00am to 5:00pm during the guarded season.
The beach is accessible outside guarded hours for permit holders, though swimming is at your own risk without lifeguards present.
The village has expanded available parking near the primary Dune Road access point, adding approximately 40 additional spaces to address the capacity issues experienced during peak summer weekends in recent years. The village is also piloting a mobile permit display option for 2026 — a QR code on your phone may be accepted in lieu of a physical hang tag, pending final Village Board approval.
The village asks all beachgoers to use designated beach access paths and to stay off the dunes. The dune system is Quogue's primary protection against ocean storm surge. Dune grass roots are easily damaged by foot traffic — please use the marked walkovers. Fines for dune violations are substantial and enforced.
For questions, contact Quogue Village Hall at the number listed on the official village website.
